The Ye group at Indiana University Bloomington is primarily focused on the chemical synthesis of colloidal nanomaterials and their integration into multifunctional superstructures. We seek to advance the ability to observe, understand and ultimately control structural complexities such as interfaces, defects, heterogeneities and transient intermediates that determine physical property and materials functionality. Specific research projects are listed below:
1. Design and synthesis of shape-defined multimetallic nanocrystals for electrocatalysis and plasmonics.
2. In-situ liquid cell TEM imaging of material structure and dynamics at the nanoscale.
3. Understand the phase behavior and elucidate the formation kinetics of multifunctional polymer nanocomposites using precise polymer-grafted nanocrystals.
